SAVANNA High-Speed Ferry Branch Phu Quy-Khai Thinh KG representatives have initiated the first high-speed ferry route from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island. On August 5th, the ferry will depart from Phu Quy port to Phan Thiet.
Ms. Tran Thi Hanh, director of SAVANNA High-Speed Ferry Branch Phu Quy-Khai Thinh KG, disclosed that the ferry features two floors, a 120-ton load capacity, and an aluminum alloy hull measuring 33m in length and 9.5m in width. The lower floor has two compartments with a capacity of 218 passengers, while the upper floor can accommodate 50 passengers.
The SAVANNA ferry is equipped with 2 high-speed engines, enabling it to reach a speed of 32 nautical miles per hour, ensuring stable and absolutely safe operation in weather conditions with wind force 7. Notably, the introduction of this new ferry has reduced the average travel time from 6 hours to just 2 hours and 30 minutes for the 56 nautical miles distance from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island.

The Provincial Department of Transport also stated that there are currently 8 vessels transporting cargo and passengers on this route. However, due to the complex weather and currents in this sea area, transportation vehicles are limited. Consequently, maritime transportation between the island and the mainland faces many challenges and irregular operations. Most of these vessels are now considered old.
The proposed ferry schedule is one day from Phan Thiet to Phu Quy Island and one day back. With the travel time significantly shortened for the 56 nautical miles journey, this brings great joy to the residents of Phu Quy as well as mainland tourists wanting to explore Phu Quy.
