LCK's 'Super Team' Ready to Go Big, Just Needing Strong Performance from Home Team.
In professional League of Legends (LoL) and Esports in general, the audience is an indispensable factor, arguably the most important one. Having a large audience can determine the existence and value of a team. For example, T1 easily dominates the highest viewership spots in any tournament they participate in, thanks to Faker and teammates.

For teams with strength in reputation, history, or finance, having a large fan base is not uncommon, such as SKT T1/T1 or Gen.G. However, many teams with financial strength and top-tier rosters in the region or even in the LoL scene in general, still lack a substantial fanbase compared to other top teams. These teams often face limitations in branding and achievements. A prime example is Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) - a team considered to have a high-quality 'super team' in LCK.

Recently, HLE made a surprising and bold move. Specifically, according to a recent announcement on their website, starting from next season, whenever HLE achieves a milestone in the season, fans will be rewarded with a certain percentage of money determined in the membership package. Specifically, for each achievement of reaching playoffs in tournaments like LCK Spring, Summer, or securing a spot in Worlds 2024, each HLE fan will be rewarded 0.3%.
For reaching the finals of Worlds, each HLE fan will be rewarded 0.6%. This amount is based on the membership package purchased by HLE fans. The total amount that HLE fans can receive is 9000 won (about 170k VND).

HLE's 'Membership Turned Insurance' Sparks Controversy Among Gamers, Fans Speculate Reasons

While the program fits the style of HLE's owner (Hanwha Life Insurance Group), it still sparks debate, especially since the price of the insurance package has not been disclosed. Nevertheless, perhaps if the price is acceptable and the HLE team performs well, fans will happily open their wallets.
