If you're not aware, chat groups on WeChat will be 'invisible' unless you are a member of the newly created group. Additionally, group chats can accommodate up to 500 members.
In cases where the group already has 100 members, you won't be able to join, even if you receive an invitation from another user, unless the WeChat Pay feature is activated. To activate WeChat Pay, all you need to do is link your bank account to your WeChat account.
2. QR Code
A QR code is a unique identification barcode created for individuals, groups, and businesses using WeChat. Unlike other online messaging apps and services, WeChat doesn't require users to add or link their phone number to their account.
WeChat chat groups also come with a unique QR code, generated immediately upon group creation. Users or any member with the group's QR code are granted access to the group chat. If a group reaches 100 members, using the QR code to join is no longer available.
3. Creating a WeChat Chat Group
To create a chat group on WeChat, follow these steps:
Step 1: First, open the WeChat app.
Step 2: Next, tap on the plus icon in the top right corner.
Step 3: Select Group Chat.
Step 4: Choose the contacts you want to add to the group chat.
Step 5: Finally, press OK to complete the process.
4. How to Add, Invite Friends to Join WeChat Chat Group
To add or invite friends to join a WeChat chat group, aside from sending the group's QR code to the person you want to add, follow these steps in case the QR code is not available:
Step 1: First, open the group chat window.
Step 2: Next, find and tap on the '...' icon.
Step 3: Press the plus icon.
Step 4: Choose the new contact you want to add from the list.
Step 5: Finally, press OK to add friends to the WeChat chat group.
5. Invite Friends to Join Group Calls
WeChat allows users to make group calls with up to 9 members. To invite and add friends to a group call on WeChat, follow these steps:
Step 1: First, open the group chat window.
Step 2: Find and click on the plus icon.
Step 3: Select Voice Call.
Step 4: Choose and add the members you want in the group call.
Step 5: Press Start in the top right corner.
Group creators have options to activate video call mode, mute the microphone, or enable speaker mode for the group call. However, using these options requires users to have WeChat version 6.3.5 or higher.
6. Remove Users, Members from WeChat Chat Group
If you're a group admin and, for some reason, want to remove a member or user from a WeChat chat group, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the group chat window.
Step 2: Next, find and click on the '...' icon.
Step 3: Look for the member, user you want to remove from the group.
Step 4: Long-press on the user's profile picture.
Step 5: Now, a red circular icon will appear on the screen, click on the icon to remove that user from the group.
Note: Users removed from the group can still rejoin if they have the group's QR code and if the group has less than 100 members.
