Step 1: In the Duplicate dialog box, choose the As option to name your new Layer.
Step 2: Next, in the Document section, you can choose the position of the Layer. If left default, the Layer will be placed directly within the current file.
2. How to Duplicate Layers in Photoshop to a New Working File
To create a new Layer in a separate file for convenient work, open the image you want to duplicate the Layer from, then proceed to Image > Duplicate.
Then, name your new Layer in the As section and select Ok.
At this point, the Layer will form a new file.
3. How to Duplicate Layers in Photoshop from this PSD file to a new PSD file
First, you need to open 2 PSD files in Photoshop as shown in the image.
Step 1: Select the image you want to transfer the Layer to and choose the Layer to transfer from the panel at the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Next, press Ctrl + C to copy and switch to the other image, then press Ctrl + V to paste the Layer.
