Recent information from The Elec reveals details about the battery suppliers for the upcoming foldable phones. Specifically, the latest leaks indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 will be equipped with batteries sourced from LG Energy Solution. This comes as no surprise, considering Samsung has been acquiring batteries from LG Energy Solution for its foldable devices over the past three years.
In addition to LG Energy Solution, Samsung will also utilize batteries from Samsung SDI and China's Amperex Technology Limited (ATL) for its upcoming foldable phones. This strategic move aims to avoid any potential delays in the battery supply chain.
The Elec also mentions that the estimated cost of a single battery cell is expected to be around 10-15 USD. Since the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 will each use two cells due to their foldable design, the total cost of the batteries is projected to be 30 USD per smartphone.
