According to the newly issued circular by the Ministry of Health, up to 88 healthcare service prices will be adjusted, reduced, and officially effective from July 15. List of 88 healthcare services with reduced prices from 15/7/2018 will include medical examination services, treatment services, diagnostic imaging services, MRI, and X-ray services. Among them, the most significant reduction will be in endoscopic gastric surgery.

As planned for the adjustment of healthcare prices, healthcare examination and treatment prices will be reduced by 10-30% depending on the hospital level, especially for public healthcare facilities, where prices will be significantly reduced to reassure patients.
1. Changes in examination fees:
- For special-grade and Grade 1 hospitals: Examination fees will be reduced to 35,000 VND per visit compared to the previous 39,000 VND.
- For Grade 2 hospitals: Examination fees will only be 29,000 VND, lower than the previous 35,000 VND.
2. Changes in hospital bed fees.
- The number of inpatient days equals the discharge date minus (-) the admission date: Applied to cases where patients recover or are discharged from the hospital.
- The number of inpatient days equals the discharge date minus (-) the admission date plus (+) 1
- For patients admitted and discharged on the same day, treatment time over 04 hours is counted as 01 treatment day.
- The daily bed rate is calculated per 01 person/01 bed.
- In cases where 2 people share 01 bed at the same time, only 1/2 of the rate is paid, and for 03 or more people sharing 01 bed, only 1/3 of the corresponding daily bed rate is paid.
- For patients on stretchers or folding beds, the rate is 50% of the daily bed rate for each specialty.
3. The circular also specifies detailed prices for various types of surgeries.
- Tonsillectomy surgery using electric knife now costs only 1.6 million VND, a reduction of 2.1 million VND compared to the previous 3.7 million VND.
- ENT endoscopy services reduced by more than half, from 202,000 VND to only 100,000 VND per visit.
- Endoscopic closure of gastric perforations reduced to nearly 2.9 million VND, previously over 4 million VND.
Pricing for ultrasound, X-ray, and MRI services
Digital X-ray imaging previously priced at 69,000 dong is now reduced to 62,000 dong.
MRI with contrast, requiring advanced technology, sees a slight reduction in cost from 2,336,000 dong to 2,200,000 dong.
Ultrasound service now priced at 38,000 dong, previously 49,000 dong.
CT scanner imaging without contrast for 32 rows: At 95% of the specified price, the cost is reduced from 536,000 to 512,000 dong, a reduction of 24,000 dong.
Pricing for wound dressing and surgical wound care services
For the service of replacing bandages for wounds or surgical wounds with a length ≤15 cm:
Payment is only required for inpatient treatment in the following cases: infected surgical wounds or incisions; wounds with fluid or blood in injuries exceeding 6 cm2; wounds with inserted dressings; wounds with excessive fluid discharge; wound or surgical site skin; or after one surgery but must involve two or more incisions.
=> Not applicable for dressing changes in the following cases: endoscopic surgery, dressing changes for surgical wounds, routine wounds, or newborn umbilical cord dressing changes.
For the service of changing dressings for surgical wounds with a length of over 15 cm up to 30 cm during inpatient treatment, it applies only to certain cases:
- Infected surgical incisions, gastrointestinal leaks, bile leaks, urinary leaks;
- Surgical incisions after infection (peritonitis or osteomyelitis or abscess), surgical incisions after gastrointestinal or urinary or bile or cervical abdominal surgeries;
- Surgical incisions after one surgery but must involve two or more incisions;
- Cases of surgical abortion: this pricing applies, but not exceeding 03 times.
