Countries for tourist travel without visa for a specific period of time
As a member of the ASEAN bloc, Vietnamese citizens are privileged because they can travel to Southeast Asia without a visa in 9 countries in this bloc (except for East Timor):
- Brunei: Stay duration 14 days.
- Philippines: Stay duration 21 days and must have a return air ticket or onward ticket to another country.
- Cambodia: Stay duration 30 days.
- Laos: Stay duration 30 days. If needing to stay longer than 30 days, a visa must be obtained in advance; maximum extension period is 2 times for 30 days each.
- Thailand: Stay duration 30 days.
- Indonesia: Maximum stay duration 30 days, no extension of stay allowed.
- Malaysia: Stay duration 30 days.
- Myanmar: Stay duration 14 days.
- Singapore: Stay duration 30 days. Requirement is to have a return or onward ticket to another country.

Other visa-free travel countries
- Kyrgyzstan: Visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official, ordinary passports, and no distinction of entry purposes.
- Panama: Entry for tourism purposes will be visa and tourist card exempt.
- Ecuador: If staying up to a maximum of 90 days in this country.
- Dominican Republic: If having a valid travel visa and passport or legally residing in the US, Canada, and the EU, then you can travel to this country with a tourist card.
- Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: Upon entering this country, you must present a valid passport, return flight information, and proof of financial means for the trip.
- Haiti: Stay duration in Haiti can be up to 90 days.
- Turks and Caicos: Permitted stay duration is 30 days, but you must provide information about return flight tickets leaving the island and can be extended once.
- Jeju Island (South Korea): Vietnamese tourists are visa exempt when visiting Jeju Island. However, there are no direct flights from Vietnam to Jeju, so you must transit in another country.
- Taiwan: If you hold a valid visa and residency card from the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Schengen, Australia, and New Zealand, you're exempt from a visa for 30 days when visiting Taiwan.
- Costa Rica: You'll be allowed entry into this country if you have a valid tourist or business visa for at least 3 months and have a stamped entry-exit mark from the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Schengen.
- South Korea: If you have visas from 5 countries: US, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, you're exempt from a visa when traveling to South Korea for tourism. The condition is to have a flight ticket for the next flight segment.

Countries with easy-to-obtain tourist visas
- Sri Lanka: Simply apply for a visa online, pay the visa fee using a bank card, wait for the result, then print the confirmation sheet and bring it to the airport for Sri Lanka flight procedures.
- Timor-Leste: Upon immigration at the airport, this country's customs will issue an entry visa with a fee of 30 USD. Note that you must present 100 USD for each entry (not a fee) and a return flight ticket.
- Nepal: Before arriving in Nepal, you only need to prepare: USD for visa fee payment (20 USD for a 15-day visa), 2 passport-sized photos matching those on the passport, and a blank page.
- India: Vietnam is one of the countries allowed to apply for a visa at 4 Indian airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. However, you are only allowed to apply for a visa at an Indian airport once, for a duration of 30 days, at a cost of 60 USD.
- Iran: With an ordinary passport, you can apply for a visa at Iranian checkpoints valid for 17 days for 50 USD. The requirement is to bring passport photos for visa processing. However, in some cases, they may not collect photos.
- United Arab Emirates (UAE): Currently, Emirates and Etihad are two UAE airlines with flights from Vietnam. If you use tickets from these two airlines, you can easily apply for a visa online.
- Maldives: Included in the list of countries for visa-free travel, however, to travel to the Maldives, you need to present a return flight ticket and hotel booking, and immigration officers will stamp the visa in your passport (valid for over 6 months) for a stay of up to 30 days. However, this country also has the stamp “Employment Prohibited” to prohibit laborers from coming here to work illegally under this tourist visa.
- Many African countries (including Senegal), visas are issued online. Tourists when registering online will receive a visa application form, fill out complete information, submit at the border, then receive a visa on arrival. The visa fee is 50 Euros.

List of countries granting visa-free entry to Vietnamese nationals without charging a fee
Algeria, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Romania are among the countries issuing visas to Vietnamese citizens without charging a fee. The only condition is that the passport must be valid. Please note that visa exemption does not mean you are allowed to enter completely. You should comply with regulations regarding prohibited items.
