IP (Internet Protocol) serves as your virtual address in the vast realm of the Internet. This address holds paramount importance as it aids in identifying individuals and relevant information pertaining to cybersecurity. Especially when sending or receiving Emails, you can easily trace the IP address of the sender through the following steps.
Guide to Locating the IP address of the Email sender
For Gmail Users
Begin by logging into your pre-established Gmail account by entering your Username and Password, then proceed to access your Mail as usual.
Open any Email you wish to trace the sender's IP address for.
To retrieve sender information, access the Email's Header by clicking on the triangle icon next to the Reply to All button and select Show Original option.
Upon opening a browser tab, you'll find all the necessary information, albeit it's often overwhelming. To locate the IP address of this mail, press Ctrl + F and search for the term Received: from
You'll be directed to the relevant section where the Received information is displayed as follows:
Received: from mail-ig0-x245.google.com (mail-ig0-x245.google.com [67.80.41.245])
The value within the brackets [ ] is the desired IP address. If there are multiple Received values, opt for the last one.
For Hotmail Users
Log into your Hotmail or Windows Live account by entering your Username and Password. Then, select Inbox on the left-hand side.
Proceed to open an Email for which you wish to view the Email's IP.
At the top-right corner of the opened email, click on the Actions button, represented by a triangle icon, and select View message source from the dropdown.
A new window will appear, containing the Email's Header with its IP. To find the IP of this Email, press Ctrl + F and search for the term Received: from. Navigate to the last occurrence.
You'll be directed to the relevant section where the Received information is displayed as follows:
Received: from [192.168.138.82] ([192.168.138.82:62058] helo=fcvm36a3.dc1.prod)
The value within the first set of brackets [ ] is the desired IP address.
For Yahoo Mail Users
Navigate to the Yahoo Mail homepage and log in with your Username and Password. Access the inbox by clicking on Inbox on the left-hand side.
Open the Email in your inbox for which you want to view the Email's IP.
At the top of the opened Email, click on the Move button, represented by a downward arrow icon, and select View Full Header from the dropdown.
A new window will appear, containing the Email's Header with its IP. To find the IP of this mail, press Ctrl + F and search for the term Received: from. Navigate to the last occurrence.
You'll be directed to the relevant section where the Received information is displayed as follows:
Received: from [216.39.56.170] by t4.bullet.mail.gq1.yahoo.com

For AOL Users
Start by logging into your pre-established account using your Username and Password.
Open the desired Email by accessing Inbox on the left-hand side.
Access the Email's Header by clicking on the dropdown arrow button of Action and selecting View message source:
