The Logitech MX Keys Mini is the successor to its predecessor released in 2019. However, after prolonged use, complaints arose about its size not being conducive to portability and use on the go. Hence, we now have this 'mini' version.
Pricing and Design
Of course, exclusivity comes with a price tag, and it's no different in this case. The MX Keys Mini will retail for 109 euros, much like its larger MX counterparts. Logitech made this decision to ensure price isn't a deciding factor between the two models. Ultimately, everyone has different target objects in mind. In terms of colors, you have more choices, as the MX Keys Mini comes in Light Gray, Rose Pink, and Graphite. For Windows at least, as the Mac model (with its unique layout) is only available in Light Gray to best match the rest of the Apple ecosystem. The colors also complement those of the MX Anywhere 3, a combination we can certainly recommend for productivity on the go after a few weeks of testing.

It's reassuring to know that the Graphite model consists of 30% recycled plastic, with other colors accounting for 12%. The reason for this is the availability of lower-brightness colors when it comes to recycled materials.

Battery life
Similar to its older sibling, the MX Keys Mini comes with intelligent backlighting. As your hands approach the keys, they illuminate, which is particularly useful for late-night work sessions. Of course, this does affect battery life, ranging from 10 days to 5 months when the lights are off. After a few years of using MX Keys, we can confidently say that it's more than sufficient, and you'll never feel like the keyboard needs to be charged too frequently.
Control up to 3 devices
Logitech Options notifies you when the battery is low and also allows you to customize a few other things. For example, you can disable the Windows key and assign new functions to shortcuts, which can be application-specific. Don't need the emoji picker in Photoshop? Then you can replace it with a shortcut key of your choice. Additionally, Easy Switch gives you an overview of which devices are connected to the MX Keys Mini. This can be up to three and switching is done through the buttons at the top left. In our case, it's our desktop, laptop, and tablet, but your smartphone is also an option. Incredibly convenient.
You connect via Bluetooth or Logi Bolt, the new receiver that Logitech recently introduced. However, for some inexplicable reason, they decided not to include the receiver here. Logitech says they did this because most users prefer wireless signals, but certainly not every desktop has Bluetooth, including our mini PC in the newsroom. Too bad, as all other devices with Logi Bolt (such as the new MX Keys and ERGO line) have one. To address this issue, once again we suggest pairing the MX Anywhere 3 with the MX Keys Mini. Or you could shell out 12.99 euros for a separate receiver, but at the suggested retail price of 109 euros, that's certainly not optimal.
Final thoughts
The Logitech MX Keys Mini boasts a sleek and fashionable design, compact size, and delivers a delightful typing experience. Additionally, it allows you to connect up to three devices simultaneously for increased productivity. While the absence of a Logi Bolt dongle may seem peculiar, if you're looking to save space on your workspace, the MX Keys Mini is certainly a great choice at a competitive price.
