The beautiful girlfriend turns out to be a man impersonating to deceive, stealing billions of VND.
Recently, a man named X, residing in Cà Mau City, Cà Mau Province, reported to the Cà Mau Provincial Police Investigation Division. He revealed being deceived by a girl he met on social media named L.H.N, losing 5.7 billion VND. In the investigation, authorities identified the culprit as a man who exploited a female identity to commit fraud.
The scammer befriended X online, using pictures of beautiful girls with attractive figures regularly posted on the profile to enhance credibility. The communication method was through discreet messaging to avoid detection. After gaining the trust of the victim, the scammer changed the script, playing the role of a vulnerable and distressed beautiful girl seeking help. The goal was to transfer amounts like 13 million VND, 20 million VND, and then 30 million VND from X, but the victim never met the alleged girl, and L.H.N removed X from the friends' list.
Not stopping there, realizing the victim was affluent, the scammer posed as a girl again, executing larger scams totaling nearly 6 billion VND with a total of 36 transactions.
Only when too much money had been transferred without meeting the supposed beauty did X become suspicious and report to the police. At the police station, the scammer confessed to the actions. This person had two prior convictions for 'Receiving property known to be obtained through criminal activity' and 'Failure to report criminal offenses.'
This is indeed a lesson and a wake-up call for those dating online, be cautious if you don't want to end up losing both money and love.
