Korean Players May Be Eyeing a Large-Scale Exodus from Gen.G
Currently, as regions are in their off-season post the 2023 season, many teams are engaging in scrims to gear up for the new season. Meanwhile, the LPL just wrapped up the Demacia Cup 2023, with players now entering intense training phases as the Spring 2024 LPL season is just 1-2 weeks away. Following a lackluster showing at Worlds 2023, LPL teams are striving to rebuild fan confidence.

An unusual occurrence was noted during the Demacia Cup: a complete lack of images or footage showing players arriving at or moving within the venue. Even player introductions and live-action clips were missing, an anomaly in professional League of Legends. Uzi addressed this puzzling situation in a recent stream.
Uzi disclosed: 'The LPL has issued a broadcasting prohibition for players from Korea. Their presence at events is not permitted, and the reason is widely known. Consequently, any images or footage capturing them in appearance or during competitions are to be eliminated.'

Observers quickly noticed that during the Demacia Cup's trashtalk segment, all LPL players were filmed head-on as usual, except for Ruler, who was only shown from the back. Naturally, this led audiences to immediately think of Gen.G, who found themselves embroiled in significant media controversy following the 2023 season.

While the full implications for the LPL-LCK relationship remain unclear, it's evident that players in the LPL are starting to face consequences. A widespread exodus may occur in the future if LCK stars here feel undervalued or perceive the LPL as no longer a fertile environment.
