(Homeland) - According to various opinions, some positions in the current ASIAD League of Legends team of the populous nation seem not entirely suitable.
Alongside intense domestic competitions and the much-anticipated clashes at the 2023 World Championship (Worlds), another equally anticipated tournament is the ASIAD, set to take place in Hangzhou at the end of the year. With Esports making its debut as a medal sport, this event will garner even more attention than before. Specifically for League of Legends (LoL), the showdown between representatives from LCK and LPL will continue.

Recently, the LPL announced the official roster for the upcoming ASIAD tournament. The 6 players participating in this event will be: 369 and Bin (Top Lane), Jiejie (Jungle), Knight (Mid Lane), JackeyLove (Bot Lane) and Meiko (Support). The head coach of the team will be KenZhu - who is currently leading Edward Gaming (EDG) with two members, Jiejie and Meiko. Previously, LPL sent Team WE to participate in the Road to ASIAN Games 2022, so the official roster at that time remained a big question mark.

However, if this is the final roster chosen at the end of 2022, it would be entirely justified. The only issue is that, at the current time, many player positions are not pleasing the fans of the populous nation. The two positions causing the most controversy are Jiejie and Meiko. Regarding Jiejie, it's clear that he is no longer in the form he was when EDG triumphed at Worlds 2021. Some even believe that if Tian hadn't faced psychological issues and wasn't prone to collapse under criticism, the Top Esports player would be more deserving than Jiejie.
Meiko is in a similar situation despite being a seasoned player in LPL. Meiko's current form is considered unstable. According to many opinions, the selection of Jiejie and Meiko by coach KenZhu and the LPL selection committee is because they are from the same team. Not a few express regret for players with more stable performance being overlooked, such as ON and Wei.

However, in the coming time, these players may regain the necessary form. Therefore, LPL fans need to stay calm and give the players more time to prove that they truly deserve a spot in the Hangzhou ASIAD lineup and compete for the League of Legends gold medal.
