First and foremost, in my opinion, we should opt for countries in Asia or closer, the Southeast Asian region, for Lunar New Year travel. Why Asia? It's simple, Asian countries have developed from the Rice Civilization, so they celebrate Tet according to the Lunar Calendar, or the Lunar Calendar. Therefore, during this time, many traditional festivals and activities will take place to welcome the biggest holiday of the year. Hence, you will have more exciting experiences compared to traveling to countries in Europe or other continents during this time.
The Land of Smiles
Thailand is perhaps a name familiar to us all, after the hustle and bustle of the past year, what could be better than welcoming the new year with a trip to explore Thailand and participate in the entertainment and culture of this country. This period is also the most suitable time to visit the Land of the Golden Temples, as the climate here in February is cool and pleasant.

Wat Yannawa Temple
Therefore, there is nothing more fitting than paying homage to the Golden Buddha Statue at Wat Traimit Temple or paying homage to the Standing Buddha at Wat Yannawa Temple to wish for a lucky and healthy new year.

Boating on the Chao Phraya River
Enjoy a boat ride on the Chao Phraya River to soak up the cool atmosphere and admire the bridge connecting the past and the present, the ancient and the bustling of Bangkok.

Chiang Mai Flower Festival
Furthermore, the Chiang Mai Flower Festival is held in February every year in the city of Chiang Mai with a myriad of flowers displaying their beauty along with special art performances and a beauty pageant gathering the most beautiful girls in this city, surely an experience you wouldn't want to miss.
Moreover, the beginning of the year is the time when finances are abundant, so it's perfect for shopping sprees at shopping centers.
Lion Island
If you want a resort vacation with family and friends during the Reunion Tet holiday, then Singapore is truly an ideal choice for you. During this time, the streets of Singapore are beautifully decorated, and there are also many music and art performances. At Marina Bay and Sentosa Island, there are fireworks displays. Moreover, from New Year's Eve to the 15th day of the lunar month, traditional festivals will be continuously held in the series of traditional festivals welcoming the new year in Singapore, which is the main attraction for tourists to visit Singapore during this time.

Lantern Festival
You will have the opportunity to participate in the Lantern Festival, kicking off the festival series to pray for good things to come in the new year.

River Hongbao Festival
Or you can explore the culture and traditional cuisine of this island nation while admiring the statue of God of Fortune along with 12 giant zodiac animals at the River Hongbao Festival.

Thaipusam Festival
There is also the Thaipusam Festival, a traditional festival of Hindus, considered a highlight of the festival season. However, February is also the peak season for tourism in Singapore, so travel expenses may be slightly higher but it's worth having an exciting Tet trip with family.
Land of Kimchi
Unlike Tet in Vietnam, where the temperature has started to warm up, in South Korea it is still immersed in the cold and snow of winter. So for those who want to see snow covering the land, this is indeed a good choice to celebrate Lunar New Year.

Yangji Snow Sledding Park
You can go sledding at the Yangji and Lotte World Snow Sledding Park, see the Kyungbok Palace and Blue House in sight at Kwang Hwa Moon Square, or visit the Gyeongbok Royal Palace considered one of the oldest architectural structures in Seoul.

Seongeup Village
Or you can seek luck and peace in the new year at the most modern Buddhist temple in Asia – Yakcheona Temple located on Jeju Island. Also on this famous island, you will have the opportunity to learn about medicine picking in Seongeup Village – the filming location of the famous drama “Nang Dae Changkum”.

Odeng Fish Cake
Or you can indulge in traditional Korean cuisine such as kimchi, cold noodles, spicy noodles, odeng fish cake,... Or simply immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of South Korea which will make you happy. Even for K-pop fans, this is an opportunity to watch their idols' music performance shows.
China
Our 'neighbor' is always a decent choice for travel, no matter when. During Chinese New Year travel, you will find it not much different from the traditional Tet of Vietnam, although there are some minor differences, overall, the Chinese people celebrate on a larger scale than us. One thing for sure that will excite you is that you will get to set off firecrackers, hear the booming sound of firecrackers everywhere, and watch magnificent parades and military processions. However, if you want to experience the differences in Tet culture, you can visit areas with a concentration of ethnic minorities, as China has many communities and ethnic groups living together, so there will also be different ways of celebrating Tet and festivals in each region, from very special ethnic groups.

During Tet days, there are often parades, dragon dances, and lion dances on the streets
You can visit Beijing, Dali, or Sichuan, which are regions with a long history and culture, and also have various ethnic groups living together, creating unique cultural exchanges. For example, the Di ethnic group in Sichuan will dance under the moonlight to welcome Tet, the Man ethnic group in Beijing, Northeast China, and North China will organize horse or camel races before Tet and celebrate Tet twice on the 30th and 1st. If you're lucky, you may see traditional Tet customs of the indigenous people. If you don't have that chance, don't be disappointed, the scenery and New Year atmosphere in your country will be enough to delight you.
Hope you have been able to make your choice for your Tet holiday trip, you can choose independent travel or buy a tour, both are fine. However, during this time, people tend to prefer resting and enjoying more, so I think choosing to buy a tour would be more reasonable. Wish you have a meaningful Tet trip with your family and friends!
