Mac sales reached $7.6 billion in Q4 2023, down 34% from $11.5 billion in the same period last year. Mac revenue for the entire year 2023 was $29.4 billion, down from $40.2 billion in 2022.
MacBook Pro M3Apple's Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri, attributed this decline to challenging market conditions. Due to supply chain issues in June 2022, Mac sales surged in September 2022, which did not happen this year. Apple also upgraded in June 2023 instead of September, impacting sales in September compared to last year.
Apple released the new Mac M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max at the end of October, but sales of these devices will only be counted in the next quarter. Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC that he expects Mac revenue to improve during the holiday season.
Cook stated: “I believe Mac will have a significantly better quarter in December”. Cook said: “We have M3, we have new products, and we don't have year-over-year comparisons phenomenon”.
