According to reports from Apple insiders, macOS 14 is expected to launch later this year with many new features, although one of them won't be compatible with Intel-based Macs.

On the macOS Sonoma features page, Apple states that the following features will not be available on Intel-based Macs:
- Presenter Overlay, a feature displaying users at the forefront of the content they're sharing in any online meeting application.
- Game Mode, prioritizing CPU and GPU performance when gaming by limiting background task performance.
- New High-Performance mode in Screen Sharing applications.
- The ability to directly pair Made for iPhone hearing devices with Mac computers.
- The ability to invoke Siri by saying 'Siri' instead of 'Hey Siri.'
Apple hasn't disclosed the reason why these features aren't available on Intel-based Macs, but it could relate to performance considerations, and only Apple's latest silicon Macs feature the Neural Engine for machine learning tasks. The transition to Apple silicon processors concluded with the introduction of the new Mac Pro featuring the M2 Ultra chip this week.
macOS Sonoma may be released to users in October and be compatible with Macs released since December 2017.
