Major US airlines drop mask mandate on flights
On April 18, many major US airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Air... and the national railway Amtrak simultaneously announced the removal of the mask requirement for passengers and airline staff immediately.
'For almost 2 years, the mask has been like a boarding pass, you couldn't depart without it. However, starting today, the mask is just an option at our airports and on our planes', a representative from Alaska Airlines stated.
United Airlines said they no longer require masks on domestic flights, some international flights, and US airports.

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian acknowledges risks in dropping mask mandate but expects flights to fill up after the decision to relax rules.
The airlines' decision came just hours after a federal court in Florida, USA, lifted the requirement to wear masks on airplanes and trains by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
According to Bloomberg, the US Transportation Security Administration has confirmed this information and they will not require passengers on airplanes, trains, and other public transportation to wear masks “at this time”.
