With each major Windows 10 update, Microsoft introduces a plethora of new features. The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is no exception, with Microsoft adding many improvements like the OneDrive Files On-Demand and My People features.
However, alongside these additions, the company is also phasing out many features and functionalities in the new builds. Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Paint, and 3D Builder app will no longer have several features.
In preparation for the major release of Win 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft has unveiled a list of features that will be 'discontinued' on the new update. Several features bid farewell to Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, including:
- 3D Builder app
Not installed by default, you might consider using Print 3D and Paint 3D as alternatives. Although 3D Builder won't come pre-installed, it remains available on the Windows Store for users to download. The Paint 3D tool supports creating 3D graphics on Windows 10 computers.
- Apndatabase.xml
- Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET)
Blocked. Consider utilizing the Exploit Protection feature of Windows Defender Exploit Guard as an alternative.
- Outlook Express
- Reader app
This feature is seamlessly integrated into the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Reading List
This feature is seamlessly integrated into the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Screen saver function in Themes
Deactivated in Themes. The Screen saver function within Group Policies, Control Panel, and Sysprep is currently inactive but still operational. Features and policies of Lockscreen take precedence.

This insecure security feature has been eliminated, replaced by BitLocker.

This legacy code has been removed. The function has been transitioned to Stack TCP Engine.
- Tile Data Layer
Replaced by Tile Store.
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Owner Password Management
This legacy code has been eliminated.
- IIS 6 Management Compatibility
Alternative script tools and a new control panel are recommended replacements.
- IIS Digest Authentication
A recommended authentication method for substitution is proposed.
- Microsoft Paint
- RSA/AES Encryption for IIS
Consider using a CNG encryption provider as an alternative.
- Synchronize Settings
Back-end changes: Currently, this synchronization process is met with opposition. In future releases, cloud storage systems for settings synchronization will be used for both Enterprise State Roaming users and all other users. (Currently, these users utilize different cloud storage systems.)
- System Image Backup (SIB) Solution
Consider alternative solutions for backing up entire drives from different providers.
- TLS RC4 Ciphers
Disabled by default.
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM): TPM.msc and TPM Remote Management
Replaced with a new user interface in an upcoming release.
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Remote Management
This legacy code has been removed in a future release.
- Windows Hello for Business utilizing System Center Configuration Manager
Windows Server 2016 Active Directory Federation Services - Registration Authority (ADFS RA) is simpler and provides a better user experience.
- Windows PowerShell 2.0
Applications and components are integrated on PowerShell 5.0+.
Previously, Mytour informed you about Microsoft discontinuing support for Win 10 on certain older Atom chip computers. It is evident that Microsoft is gradually improving features and pausing support for long-existing devices.
