Supermoons can be over 14% larger and shine over 30% brighter than regular full moons. The names of supermoons are often associated with seasons in the year and closely linked to nature.

The reason the August full moon is called the 'sturgeon moon' is because at this time of year, fishermen will easily catch this type of fish.
Interestingly, a full moon typically occurs every 29.5 days, but a supermoon is a rarer phenomenon. According to the Ola Farmers' Almanac, 2022 has seen 4 supermoons on May 15th, June 14th, July 13th, and August 11th.
