Marvel at the 'super narrow' canal in Greece
The Corinth Canal connects the Corinth Gulf in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. The canal has separated the Peloponnese from mainland Greece, turning this peninsula into a true island.

Completed in 1893, the canal was built as a shortcut, saving vessels about 185 nautical miles (340 km) in travel time. It is known that the Corinth Canal serves the travel needs of approximately 15,000 ships per year.

The Corinth Canal is approximately 6.4 km long, with towering cliffs reaching up to 79 meters high and is quite narrow, with some sections only 24 meters wide, making it a challenging passage for large vessels. With impressive towering cliffs surrounding it, the Corinth Canal has become a famous tourist destination in Greece.

In 2019, a Braemar cruise ship carrying 1200 passengers 'squeezed' through this canal. This ship is 22.52 meters wide, weighs 24,344 tons, and is 195.82 meters long. It's also the largest cruise ship ever to pass through the Corinth Canal, according to the maritime travel company Fred Olsen.
