1. Master the 5 Steps to Clean Your Air Conditioner at Home Without Calling a Technician
With just these 5 simple steps, you can clean your air conditioner yourself without the need for a technician. Act now if you don't want your air conditioner to malfunction prematurely.
After a period of usage, our air conditioners tend to accumulate dust, which reduces their efficiency. Most people would call a technician to repair and clean. While theoretically calling a technician is good because they will perform all the necessary cleaning steps, check the machine's casing, electrical connections, and airflow capacity of the condenser/evaporator... In reality, there have been many cases where calling a technician resulted in wasting money, time, and sometimes even frustration, while you could have done it yourself in just 5 steps.
According to experts, we should clean our air conditioners at least once or twice a year to ensure proper functionality. Otherwise, the cold air will dissipate weakly, not cooling enough. In some cases, it may even damage the heat dissipation unit inside the machine or cause the cooling unit to fail to exchange heat, leading to excessive coldness, condensation, and water leakage. So, act now:

Step 1
- Turn off all power supply to the air conditioner to ensure safety during cleaning;
- Then, hang a bag with a wide enough mouth to catch dripping water and dust during cleaning;
- Proceed to inspect the indoor and outdoor units to ensure no foreign objects are trapped inside the machine (e.g., dead insects...)
Step 2
Use your hands to gently press the latches to remove the air filter from the air conditioner, then soak it in a large bowl of water and use a dishwashing sponge to scrub the filter thoroughly, then let it dry completely.
Step 3
The external fan blades and machine fins are part of the protective system, though sparse, they still need regular cleaning to remove obstructions. If possible, purchase a Coil Cleaner spray (a liquid containing alkali specially formulated for quick cleaning of aluminum fins), lightly spray into the gaps between the metal fins, avoiding spraying onto the air conditioner's electronic circuit board. After spraying, let the cleaning agents work for about 10 to 20 minutes, then wipe the blades with a damp cloth.
Step 4
Use a dry cloth to thoroughly wipe dry the parts that can be wiped, reassemble the drained filter mesh and cover of the air conditioner in their original positions, then wipe the entire exterior clean.
Step 5
Turn on the air conditioner again to let the remaining water drain out. Once you've confirmed the machine is running smoothly without any strange noises, remove the dust bag, and your air conditioner will be clean and shiny from the inside out.
With just these 5 simple steps, you can clean your air conditioner at home without the need for a technician. Don't be lazy, or else your air conditioner might malfunction prematurely.
