Before indulging in voice or text chats with friends, it's a prerequisite to have friends in your friend list. Navigate to Friends, then input a string containing the username and tag of the person, and press Send Friend Request to send a friend request (the username and tag can be found at the bottom left corner of the application).
Alternatively, instead of manually adding friends one by one, you can link your Discord account with other gaming accounts like Steam, Xbox, Facebook, etc., to find more friends to play with. Click on Connect Accounts.

Once you have friends, if you want to voice chat with them, in Friends > Online, right-click on the person's account and select Call.

On the invitee's screen, there will be a notification for the incoming call. Press Join Call to start voice chatting. This notification will appear even if you are already in a call with someone else. A call can have multiple participants.

Now, feel free to use your microphone to converse with your friends. Though it rarely happens, in case you join a call and can't voice chat, click the settings icon and reselect your input and output devices. Utilize the Mic Test feature to troubleshoot any microphone issues.

If you wish to exit the chat, simply click on Leave Call.

When you exit, the voice chat room will continue without any interruption. Group chat only concludes when the last person exits. And as long as it persists, you can join at any time.
So, now you know how to use Discord for voice chatting with your friends. Especially if you regularly engage in online games requiring teamwork, you can't overlook this excellent and free software. Wishing you successful Discord usage!
