Unlike Yahoo Messenger, where you can chat with multiple people simultaneously by opening multiple chat windows, Skype defaults to allowing you to chat with only one person in a single window. However, you can still open multiple chat windows on Skype following the instructions provided by Mytour.

Step 1: After installing Skype on your computer, open Skype.
If you don't have a Skype account, proceed to sign up and create one.
Step 2: In the Menu, click View --> Split Windows View (Multi-window display mode)

With the Split Windows View mode activated, Skype will automatically divide into separate chat windows. Clicking on any account will split the chat frame into individual windows. The main Skype interface will only display the friends list at all times.

To return to the original Skype interface, simply click on View --> Single Windows View (View one window)
