Renata Chemtech - Duelists team composition is currently considered 'hot stuff' in TFT season 6.5.
Teamfight Tactics season 6.5 has officially arrived for gamers, and this is seen as a season even more enticing than the previous season 6 with many changes in champions, Tech Cores, origins, and classes... Especially, TFT season 6.5 also marks the first appearance of 2 champions not 'vetted' through LoL but have made it to this autobattler mode: Silco and Renata Glasc. Among them, Renata is expected to join Summoner's Rift in the near future.
Although it's unclear how dominant Renata will be when she truly debuts in LoL, at present, this champion from Zaun is extremely popular. Particularly, one of them is the Renata Duelists - Chemtech team comp, which is considered extremely powerful and can easily make opponents 'plunge into depression' because they can't seem to defeat it.
Overview and Operation
Renata is a champion focused on multi-target damage and her damage is in the form of DPS. Therefore, if choosing Renata as the main damage dealer, it is necessary to have items that help her cast her skills more frequently as well as maximize the amount of damage Renata can deal. Additionally, if choosing Renata as the main damage dealer, there also needs to be sufficient shielding, providing her with a certain amount of durability to unleash her skills as much as possible. Hence, the combination with Duelists - Chemtech will help Renata address the issue of her toughness.
In the early game phase, as most Chemtech champions from season 6 are still retained, and Duelist champions as well, at level 4, players can use 3 Chemtech - 1 Duelist or 2 Duelist - 2 Chemtech. It's not necessary to force the Chemtech synergy at this stage because the Chemtech pieces needed are not yet available in the early stages, and this is not the main synergy of this team comp.
Moving into the mid-game phase, Chemtech champions like Warwick/Twitch/Singed need to be replaced by Zac, and if even luckier, at level 5 or 6, if players already have Renata, they need to quickly put her on the board. But what's crucial are the Duelist champions like Sejuani, Rek'Sai, and especially having Vi as early as possible. And because most champions for this team comp are spread evenly across all price tiers from 1 to 5 gold, players should roll at a basic speed, not too fast, and not slow-roll to avoid missing out on important pieces, especially since Renata is a very hot champion at the moment.
Towards the end of the match, it's ideal to have Tahm Kench and Silco to complete the team comp at level 8. Additionally, Silco with the Scholar origin will also help activate the synergy for Renata at just the right level for her to be effective. If there's another Chemtech synergy, it will be a perfect team comp, including: Vi - Tahm Kench - Illaoi - Rek'Sai - Sejuani - Zac - Renata - Silco.
Strengths and Weaknesses
The strength of this team comp lies in the large multi-target damage output from Renata, the buffing capabilities of Silco, and the extremely strong durability of the Duelist lineup above. Not to mention, there's also the hard crowd control from Sejuani, Zac, and Tahm Kench as well as Vi. Especially, Vi is also a strong source of damage that players can leverage with the right items and necessary levels.
However, the weakness of this team comp lies in Renata at 1-star level being very susceptible to being burst down if facing opponents using Assassins or knowing how to arrange their team comp properly. Additionally, the amount of necessary items to optimize can also be a challenging factor for players. However, once executed properly, this could be seen as an 'unkillable' team comp, and Renata's 'devastating' damage will 'clean up' the board amidst the opponent's frustration.
