How to effectively use sniper rifles in Garena Free Fire
1. AWM
AWM stands as the most potent Bolt-action sniper rifle in Free Fire, boasting immense damage, longest range, and is favored with an 8X scope attachment, turning it into a feared weapon that instills dread with every shot. Its power makes every player crave to wield it, yet it's not a weapon for just anyone to use.
Firstly, this rifle can only be obtained from airdrops, commonly known as crates, which attract attention from all directions. Acquiring the AWM often leads to intense firefights. Secondly, being a Bolt-action rifle, its firing rate is extremely slow. Without proficient shooting skills, using this rifle is a waste. Thirdly, the AWM is highly conspicuous with its loud noise, essentially broadcasting your location to the entire map. This attracts numerous enemies, eager to snatch this formidable weapon from you, leaving you vulnerable in close combat situations.
To fully unleash the potential of this firearm, the first thing you need to do is hone your shooting skills to ensure accuracy and avoid wasting bullets. Using this firearm requires players to read situations exceptionally well; standing still while shooting will undoubtedly attract surrounding enemies to eliminate you. Change positions constantly after 2-3 shots, always remain aware of your surroundings, or have teammates cover you for better protection. Always carry a secondary weapon with good combat capability; while AR is a good choice, SMG is not a bad option either, with faster weapon switching and higher firing rates, you will no longer fear being surrounded by enemies.
2. Kar98k
Kar98k is now considered the nation's favorite Bolt-action sniper rifle as it can be easily found in battles. While Kar98k has slightly less damage than AWM, it is still very powerful. Although the firing rate statistics are the same, if you pay attention, you will notice that the bullet reload speed after each shot of Kar98k is faster than AWM's, albeit slightly, significantly improving the flexibility of this firearm.
This firearm still has similar weaknesses to AWM as it lacks good combat capability. Not to mention, the reload speed is very slow as it has to reload each bullet one by one instead of being able to change the entire magazine like AWM. It would be a disaster if you were approached by enemies.
Kar98k is a suitable firearm for most people as it can be easily obtained. You can use this firearm to practice Bolt-action shooting from basic to advanced anytime, anywhere. Regarding its practical usage scenarios, Kar98k is similar to AWM as mentioned above.
3. VSS
Equipped with a built-in silencer and a 4X scope, VSS is an SMG firearm with the ability to silently chip away at opponents' health. With a magazine capacity of 15 rounds and the option to extend the magazine, along with two firing mechanisms: single-shot and automatic, VSS is suitable for both long-range sniping and close combat.
The weakness of this firearm lies in its low damage output. Despite having low recoil, the fixed 4X scope can cause the gun to kick upwards if the player lacks good gun control while aiming and shooting, especially in continuous firing mode. With only 15 rounds per magazine, continuous firing will quickly deplete ammunition. Inaccurate shooting creates opportunities for enemies to approach and eliminate you.
VSS proves to be highly advantageous in the early stages of the match when opponents may lack armor or only possess level 1 armor. With the quietest suppressed sound among all firearm types, it's challenging for enemies to detect you, making VSS ideal for ambush situations, weakening opponents for easier elimination by teammates.
4. CG15
This energy-charged SMG firearm is quite impressive. Even though it's equipped with only a 2X scope, the more energy accumulated, the greater the damage, potentially eliminating opponents with just one shot, making it an excellent choice when facing enemies with full armor.
With a 2X scope, this firearm is most effective when eliminating enemies at medium range or closer. Additionally, for the CG15 to reach maximum energy accumulation, it takes 3 seconds. Therefore, this firearm is only suitable for targeting stationary objectives, typically players focused on looting or camping in a fixed location with minimal movement.
5. M14
As an assault rifle with excellent semi-automatic sniping capabilities, the M14 boasts the lowest damage among the three semi-automatic sniper rifles. However, it compensates with the lowest recoil, fastest firing rate, and the highest magazine capacity. The M14's recoil recovery is exceptional, and when equipped with a Foregrip attachment to reduce recoil, this firearm becomes perfect.
The M14 stands out from the other two rifles with its two firing mechanisms: Single Shot and Auto. With an extended magazine attachment, the M14 transforms into a formidable assault rifle, rivaling the M4A1 or FAMAS. With high versatility and flexible firing mode switches, the M14 is suitable for long-range sniping, mid-range engagements, and even close-quarters combat. Since the M14 isn't restricted to a specific scope, players can customize between a 4X scope and various close-range scopes depending on combat situations. Unfortunately, Free Fire does not allow the addition of a bayonet for close combat.

6. SKS
SKS or CKC is a Semi-auto sniper rifle with high damage but considerable recoil, requiring players to have good control and aim stability. Due to the fixed 4X scope, SKS is only suitable for long-range or mid-range sniping situations, lacking effectiveness in close combat unless you excel at using the 4X scope.
Its greatest advantage lies in the SKS's range, comparable to the Kar98k, making it extremely effective for players who want to pursue and engage opponents from a distance. Continuous adjustments can be made to ensure the highest accuracy of shots reaching the target.
7. Dragunov SVD
Dragunov can only be found in airdrops, so this firearm is not as common as the SKS. Being the most damaging Semi-auto rifle among the three, its other statistics such as firing rate and recoil are similar to SKS. However, when actually using it, you'll notice that the SVD has significantly more recoil, poorer recoil recovery, and harder control. Thus, Dragunov truly shines when shooting targets at long range, requiring more spaced-out shots to prevent the gun from recoiling upward.
SVD is ineffective when shooting enemies at mid-range; you'll struggle to keep up with the enemy's running speed due to the gun's poor recoil recovery. Therefore, this firearm is entirely unsuitable for close combat. If you're a skilled marksman with good aim stability, you'll undoubtedly unleash the potential of this firearm. Otherwise, it's best not to consider using it and instead practice more with the M14 or SKS.
