When the need arises to insert mathematical formulas like greater than or equal to, less than or equal to symbols in Word and Excel, the Symbol tool comes to the rescue.
I. Inserting greater than or equal to, less than or equal to, and derived symbols in Word
1. Utilize the Symbol feature in Word
a. Greater than or equal to, less than or equal to symbols
Navigate to the Insert menu and click on the Symbols section, where you will find the greater than or equal to, less than or equal to symbols to add to your document.
b. Implication symbol
Step 1: Go to the Insert menu, select Symbol from the displayed list, and choose More Symbols.
Step 2: Select the Symbols tab in the Font
Step 3: In the current display list, locate the implication symbol and select Insert. That's it.
Note: You may notice the implication symbol has a character code of 222 in the list. You can enter this number in the Character code section to simplify the search.
2. Utilize keyboard shortcuts
- Symbol ≥ : 2265+Alt +X. (Greater than or equal to)
- Symbol ≤ : 2264 +Alt +X. (Less than or equal to)
To represent the implication symbol, press = (equals) and > (greater than) on the keyboard (=>).
II. Inserting greater than or equal to, less than or equal to, and implication symbols in Excel
Step 1: Go to Insert => Symbols to open the Symbol dialog box.
Step 2: Select the Symbols tab in the Font section, input the symbol, and press Enter.
Step 3: In the current display list, locate the greater than or equal to, less than or equal to, and implication symbols and choose Insert. That's it.
Note:
+ The less than or equal to and greater than or equal to symbols are readily available in the Recently used symbols section.
+ You may notice the implication symbol has a character code of 222 in the list. Entering this number in the Character code section can simplify your search.
