Winning Strategies in Liêng
1. Rules of Liêng Card Game
- Typically, the number of players in a round ranges from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 6 players. Each player is dealt 3 cards.
- Initially, players place the basic bet as per the rules. After receiving 3 cards, players can place additional bets depending on the dealt cards. The dealer starts the game, and turns proceed clockwise. On your turn, you have 3 options:
+ Raise: If you have a strong hand with a high chance of winning, you can choose to raise and increase your bet.
+ Call: If the previous player raised, you can choose to call and match their bet or choose not to follow.
+ Fold: You opt out of the round, refusing to participate, and accept losing the initially placed bet.
When feeling confident about your hand, go all in: Bet a high value on your chances of winning.
Note: Only one bet is allowed per round in each game.
A round concludes when no one bets. If no one follows the bet, the bettor becomes the winner, keeping their cards hidden. However, if at least two players follow, they must reveal their cards for scoring. The player with the higher score wins.

2. Understanding Wins and Losses in Liêng
- Wax: A set of 3 cards with equal values, where 2 is the smallest and A (Ace) is the largest. For example, 4 (spades), 4 (clubs), and 4 (hearts)
- Liêng: 3 consecutive cards from A (Ace) to K. In contrast to playing Phom cards, in Liêng, we accept the consecutive set A, 2, 3, and the set Q, K, A (Ace). The set with higher numbers will be stronger. In case of a tie, compare suits in descending order of strength (hearts) > (diamonds) > (spades) > (clubs).
- Images in Liêng: The trio of face cards (J, Q, K), excluding the continuous Liêng set JQK. If players have the same image, suits are considered to determine the winner.
- In other cases, it depends on the total points of the 3 cards. Cards 2 - 10 count their respective points, A (Ace) counts as 1 point, and J, Q, and K count as 10 points. The number 9 is the highest, and 1 is considered the lowest. Players with the same score will tie.

3. How to Play Liêng for Beginners
- Step 1: Players will proceed to place bets according to the predetermined basic amount.
- Step 2: Game starts. Players are dealt 3 cards. The first player is the one who was the winner in the previous round. The player to the right of the first dealer will play next.
- Step 3: Playing turn. Each player has about 20 seconds to decide to Bet, Follow, Fold, or Go all in. If a player bets, you can add more money and then bet. If the player before you bets, you can decide to fold or follow.
- Step 4: Conclusion. The game ends when no one bets in a turn or only one player does not fold. The player following the last card is the winner and takes all the money that players did not bet.
4. Tips for Playing Liêng
To win at Liêng against other players, pay attention to the following:
- Seize your opportunities. Missing chances will gradually decrease your winning odds, and opponents may reveal their strong hands.
- Employ psychological tactics against players. Project an unpredictable image, making others overconfident and less cautious. Surely, you will improve your winning chances significantly.
- Know when to stop. If you sense a losing streak and face a formidable opponent, quit to minimize small betting losses instead of risking larger amounts.
