When dealing with a large Excel spreadsheet and facing the tedious task of manually searching and replacing data cells, this article guides you through the detailed steps of utilizing the Find and Replace function in Excel.
1. Locating Data with Find
Note: Place the mouse cursor at the beginning of your Excel file.
Step 1: There are two ways to access the Find function.
- Option 1: Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F.
- Option 2: Navigate to the Home tab -> Select Find & Select -> Find.

Step 2: The dialog box appears; enter the keyword to search in the Find What field -> Click Find Next.

Step 3: To find all instances, click Find All => the result:

2. Replacing Data
Note: Ensure the mouse cursor is positioned at the beginning of your Excel file.
Step 1: There are two ways to access the Replace function.
- Option 1: Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + H.
- Option 2: Navigate to the Home tab -> Select Find & Select -> Replace.

Step 2: The dialog box appears; enter the value to replace in the Find What field and the replacement value in the Replace with field. In this example, replace the value D01ES with D01ES. Clicking Replace will replace each found instance. If you want to replace all, click Replace All.
