The AOE empire game is a strategic game that demands players to execute numerous actions. Various strategies are applied in battles within the Empire, depending on each type of troop and resource conditions, leading to different combat approaches. Sometimes, players must also react quickly in troop control situations during clashes with opponents.
In the AOE empire, each type of troop has its advantages and different combat approaches.
If the opponent is an archer:
+ Focus on early life pressure to gain advantage when ascending. Frequently build 2BL to dodge arrows.
+ Mastering control of your pieces against archers is an art. Experts often control one knight to charge forward, drawing archers' fire. In technical terms, it's called 'Island'.
+ The remaining pieces should converge on the opponent's pieces, and have your knights engage with multiple archers instead of clustering on one. Clustering on one will lead to blocked moves and some pieces standing idle on the sidelines.
* If the opponent is a swordsman:
+ If you're a charging horse and the opponent is a camel: prioritize closing in and executing diagonal thrusts to dismantle their stronghold.
+ Both you and the opponent are swordsmen: then gather for a swift onslaught, targeting low-health units.
+ Defensive wizards are indispensable in swordsmanship encounters. Stay vigilant; if you spot the opponent's wizard, retreat immediately. But if you're Macedonian, there's no need to fret, charge in and strike. Simply because Macedonian units are godless, making it incredibly difficult for wizards or Macedonian's Y to have any effect.
* Upgrading your swordsman is crucial. Prioritize +2 armor first, then proceed to +2 and +4 attack, and finally +4 armor. Health points are also vital for swordsmen.
* Note:
+ Attack is enhanced when striking downhill.
+ Focus on gold. If lacking, increase gold miners or upgrade gold mining as early as possible.

For dealing with archer units like Archer R
- Your population when aging up to 3 must be 25 or more. With this population, you can evenly distribute 4BA.
- Pay attention to food and wood, arrange your population accordingly.
- It's crucial to pay special attention to timber harvesting.
- Focus on upgrading woodcutting within the BM house as it's vital for increasing production and the range of archers.
When facing Archer R enemies
+ Upgrading range is extremely important, a factor that gives you an edge.
+ What archers are currently being shot at, loop around to avoid wasting time and drawing the opponent's archer attacks.
+ Divide and conquer, send a few archers to harass the opponent's economic areas.
+ Pay attention to narrow entrances into the opponent's base (which can hinder your ability to mass archers).
+ Avoid engaging in archer battles when your archers are positioned downhill or in unfavorable conditions.
Dealing with charging horses and camels
+ Against these melee units, utilize your house-boom capabilities effectively.
+ Have some archers loop around the area of your units to lure the charging units, allowing your other archers to attack them without retaliation.
+ Mass your archers together, don't spread them out as it increases the likelihood of losing units to capture.
+ When dealing with melee units, focus on upgrading hit points and archer armor within the BS house.
Dealing with Archer A
+ Archer A has advantages over Archer R in terms of damage, firing rate, cheaper resources, and shorter production time. Since Archer A requires 2 upgrades, you have an early game advantage in terms of offense.
+ Securing control of the map with Archer R early on significantly increases your chances of victory. Allowing your opponent to mass Archer A drastically decreases your chances of winning. Therefore, you must capitalize on controlling the map with your initial Archer production.
+ Offering BK (asking for a trebuchet or commonly known as stone slaughterer) is the only way to counter Archer A. Remember to protect your BK house to avoid letting your opponent know you're offering BK. Once you have gathered 2 or 3 stone slaughterers, then attack them.
Engaging with Y (javelin)
+ Macedonian and Greek javelins are annoying opponents for Archer R. To deal with these units, you need to split their units into multiple directions and snipe them, or you can also use E to obstruct the enemy's movement.
Macedonian javelins have archer armor of 3.
Greek javelins have fast running speed.
