Mè Láo Cake - Fragrant Sweet Specialty from the Western Region
Mè Láo Cake, although originating from China, has been ingeniously adapted by the locals over the course of history. Gradually, Mè Láo Cake has become a familiar specialty of the Western region in general and the people of Soc Trang in particular.

Despite its unusual name, Mè Láo Cake has won over many with its gentle sweet aroma, accompanied by its distinctive fragrance. Mè Láo is made from familiar ingredients such as glutinous rice flour, taro, sesame, and malt sugar.

Baking process:
- Peel taro skin, then wash thoroughly, thinly slice, and finely crush, then sun-dry for 2 to 3 days.
- Cut taro into small pieces and roll into round balls with glutinous rice flour, then deep fry in hot oil.
- After frying, taro will puff up, scoop it up and mix with malt sugar syrup, finally roll in toasted sesame. When enjoying, you'll feel the delicious aroma with a slightly creamy, fluffy taste of the cake along with crispy crust outside, the fragrant smell of sesame fully covering the cake surface.
