Mê Linh Flower Village – A Blooming Hub for Tet in the Capital

Mê Linh Flower Village is situated 30 km away from the center of Hanoi, near Noi Bai International Airport. Visitors can reach here by motorbike or take bus number 7. From the city center, travelers can pass Thang Long Bridge, go through the overpass, enter Thang Long Industrial Zone, and after about 5 km, they will arrive at the flower village.

While names like Nhat Tan Flower Village, Ngoc Ha, or Nghi Tam, Quang Ba are familiar to Hanoi residents, Mê Linh has become the primary source of flowers for Hanoi and northern provinces during Tet and festivals.

The art of cultivating flowers has thrived here for over 20 years. The soil in Mê Linh is most suitable for growing various types of roses. On cold, dewy nights, Mê Linh Flower Village dazzles under the shimmering light of hundreds of lamps scattered across the flower fields.

Initially, locals planted flowers spontaneously. Later realizing the economic benefits, they gradually expanded the cultivation area, changed the crop structure, and expanded the cultivation area. To this day, flower cultivation has brought a comfortable life to the people.

People in Mê Linh cultivate various types of flowers such as roses, daisies, peonies, lilies, trumpet flowers, peonies, and magnolias. However, the most popular are still various types of roses - velvet roses, red roses, yellow roses, Italian roses, French roses, Dutch roses, etc. The flowers here have vibrant colors, diversity, and are eye-catching, attracting anyone who visits.

If in 1995, Mê Linh commune only had 2 hectares of flower cultivation, today the entire commune has 236 hectares. Nowadays, in Mê Linh, almost every household cultivates flowers, whether in the fields, home gardens, or everywhere in the village.

Many households have also boldly switched from traditional rose and daisy cultivation to Thai varieties such as bauhinia flowers, Rupinét, Zupini, etc. These types of flowers are expensive, but in return, they bring economic efficiency that is 2 to 3 times higher than traditional flowers.

In addition to flower cultivation, the entire commune also has 700-800 households specializing in collecting flowers to sell wholesale and retail in various provinces. Not only accumulating a wealth of experience in flower cultivation, the people of Mê Linh also collaborate in production. The ornamental plant clubs and farmer clubs have helped each other develop the economy through flower cultivation, contributing to the prosperity of the Mê Linh flower village.
