Vung Tau, a coastal city, is only 125km from Ho Chi Minh City, making it a perfect destination for your short day trips. Currently, there are 3 transportation options for dusty tours: riding a motorbike, taking a passenger car, or riding the subway. Vung Tau always attracts tourists, but it is most crowded during holidays. You should avoid traveling to Vung Tau on these days to comfortably choose a Vung Tau hotel room and convenient transportation.
1. Traveling to Vung Tau by motorbike
Route: You take National Highway 1, pass the Dong Nai bridge, and you will encounter a traffic circle (Vung Tau intersection, formerly known as Vung Tau junction), from here you turn right onto National Highway 51. It's about 100km from here to Vung Tau City.
Option 2: From HCMC, you can choose the route from Cat Lai ferry (District 2, HCMC) to Nhon Trach (Dong Nai). This road will lead to National Highway 51 at the entrance to Nhon Trach Industrial Park. This route is closer, about 20km shorter even though the road is a bit rougher.
Travel time to Vung Tau by motorbike: 3 - 3.5 hours
2. Passenger Car
High-quality passenger cars cost from 60,000 - 80,000 VND/ticket
You can go to the Eastern Bus Station to buy tickets to Vung Tau. The journey takes about 2 hours. The stop in Vung Tau is the Vung Tau City Bus Station.

3. Subway
Travel time: 1.5 hours.
The subway runs between HCMC and Vung Tau and vice versa with multiple routes. Every 30 minutes there is a trip, running from 6:00 to 16:30, with a travel time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Departing from Bach Dang Station and stopping at Cau Da Station - Vung Tau. You can buy tickets at the station or ticket agents in HCMC or Vung Tau (some hotels also sell subway tickets).
