(Homeland) - Throughout League of Legends history, these are perhaps the top 5 champions that Riot has successfully revamped up to the present moment.
Since its release, League of Legends (LMHT) has undergone numerous updates and adjustments. LMHT champions have also changed significantly, both in appearance and skill set compared to their original versions. However, not every Riot change has had positive results for LMHT. Recently, LPL media identified 5 champions as the most successful revamps in LMHT history.
Xerath
Although nearly disappearing from the professional arena, Xerath has been a highly successful revamp case by Riot. Upon release, this champion's skill set was not particularly appealing. The reason being that Xerath's W - Arcanopulse would previously immobilize him.
Additionally, Riot also made adjustments to his passive and ultimate ability, R - Rite of the Arcane. While currently, Xerath is seen as a champion easy for players to cheat with, it cannot be denied that thanks to timely adjustments, Xerath did not completely vanish from LMHT.
Soraka
Many League of Legends players may still remember that upon her release, Soraka wasn't strictly confined to the Support position but could also be utilized in both Top and Mid lanes. This was due to Soraka possessing potent magical damage abilities and not being excessively difficult to use as a champion.
Consequently, Riot decided to implement some adjustments for Soraka. Following these changes, Soraka truly returned to a balanced state. At present, she is regarded as one of the most effective and surprising choices for teams aiming to catch their opponents off guard.
Galio
Not only were Galio's abilities and operational mechanisms lacking, but his previous appearance also failed to resonate with players. Even Galio's old default skins were deemed aesthetically lacking, prompting Riot to swiftly revamp his entire design before presenting this Guardian to the League of Legends community.
Galio's skill set also failed to grant him an advantage in the laning phase, and his cooldowns were excessively long. These unfavorable factors led to a period during which players despised Galio. Only after Riot made adjustments and equipped him with his current skill set did Galio truly become a frequently utilized champion in League of Legends. The only regret is that despite making appearances in World Championship Finals (WCF), Galio is yet to receive any prestigious skins.
Fiora
Fiora stands out as one of the signature top lane champions, often referred to as TheShy's 'go-to' champion - the champion of the 2018 World Championship. She even boasts a prestigious skin for herself after clinching victory at the highest-level international tournament in the League of Legends community. However, Fiora also underwent a makeover over three years ago when Riot felt that her kit was overly simplistic.
As a result, Fiora's abilities were revamped, demanding players to be truly skillful and adept at utilizing Fiora effectively. However, her appearance suffered a bit afterwards. It wasn't until Fiora's skins were released that the League of Legends community was truly satisfied with Riot.
Aatrox
The old Aatrox still possessed resurrection mechanics and good lane sustain, yet he lacked mobility. This made Aatrox unpopular in high-ranked games. For high-ranked players, Aatrox was nothing more than a harmless champion, only serving to absorb enemy skills for teammates.
Since his introduction in the new patch, Aatrox has been significantly improved in terms of mobility. While his skill set still demands skilled players, Aatrox is now truly one of the strongest top lane champions. At the 2022 World Championship, Aatrox was a crucial factor in helping DRX clinch victory in the 2022 World Championship.
Conclusion
Except for Xerath, the rest of the champions on the list have appeared frequently in recent seasons. This demonstrates Riot's success in revamping these names compared to when League of Legends was first introduced.
