With any operating system, including Windows, during usage, errors may occur, necessitating a system recovery. Recovery involves restoring data, and for Sony Vaio computers, it's essential to retain the license during this process. Typically, when recovering data, you Recover My Files. Step 1: Setting Up for Machine Recovery.
While the computer is turned off, press the ASSIST button to Boot into the BIOS.
Once in the BIOS, press F10 to access Recover or maintain your system.
Language setup. Choose US.

Step 2: Setting Up Vaio Care Rescue
After selecting Recovery and Maintenance, the Vaio Care dialog box opens with 3 options, including Start recovery wizard. Do not rush to select, so as not to make mistakes. Here, choose Tools

Step 3: Choosing the Recovery Type for the Machine
Note: This is a crucial step, be careful to avoid data loss.
After setting up Vaio Care Rescue as in step 2, the Select recovery type dialog box opens, meaning you have to choose the recovery type. There are 3 types of recovery:
- Factory condition: restore the entire hard drive
- Custom recovery - Resize C: adjust the size of the C drive (increase or decrease the capacity)
- Custom recovery - C driver only: only restore the C drive
It is clear that we cannot restore the entire hard drive because doing so would result in total data loss. Here, we are restoring the operating system, so choose Custom recovery - C driver only.
Select Yes, I'm sure =>Start Recovery
That's it. Please wait about 35 minutes for the recovery process to complete.
