However, both browsers certainly still have core fans, but users may be disappointed to hear today's news. That is, in 2021 Microsoft will finally bid them adieu.
Download and Install Microsoft Edge Browser to Replace Internet Explorer:
Technically, this process commenced earlier this year on November 30th, Microsoft Teams web app will cease support for Internet Explorer. However, it's not until August 17, 2021, that the new Microsoft 365 suite officially bids farewell to this old web browser.
Post August 17th, Microsoft states that users still on IE11 will have a 'downgraded experience' or may even be unable to fully connect to 365 apps. The company acknowledges this will inconvenience some of their users, particularly enterprise customers, but they feel people will 'maximize Microsoft 365' with the new Edge browser.
In addition to the above news, Microsoft has announced its Edge Legacy desktop app will officially end its life cycle on March 9, 2021. In practical terms, this means the browser will cease to receive new security updates, although it will continue to support 365 products in the near future.
The new Microsoft Edge browser is a perfect alternative to Chrome and truly lives up to its name as a great browser, so it's definitely worth a try if you're not satisfied with your current browser.
