Previously, users had to rely on Parallel Desktop for an extended period to run Windows on macOS. The good news is that Microsoft has officially partnered with Parallel to assist users in creating a virtual machine to run Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise alongside macOS on ARM processors (found in M1 and M2 chips) using Parallels Desktop 18.
Windows 11 is now officially supported on Mac
However, Microsoft also addresses limitations in gaming and applications on the ARM version of Windows 11, especially for applications relying on DirectX 12 or OpenGL 3.3. Additionally, when using this solution, users won't have access to other virtualization features, such as Windows Subsystem for Android, Subsystem for Linux, Sandbox, and Virtualization-based Security (VBS). ARM 32-bit apps available on the Windows app store will not be supported on Macs with M1 and M2 chips. However, when installing Windows 11, users can run ARM 64-bit apps by using emulation in x64 or x86 mode on their MacBook.
Microsoft's second solution is to subscribe to the Windows 365 cloud service, providing on-demand virtual machines running Windows 11 using the Azure cloud infrastructure accessible through remote connections. However, this solution is more geared towards business customers rather than individual users.
