With the increasing number of threats and cyberattacks targeting enterprise networks through mobile devices, Microsoft emphasizes the sophistication of these threats and the risks they pose if left unmonitored.

Microsoft Endpoint Manager Admin Center encompasses guidance on setting up network protection for Android and iOS devices. Most protection measures within the platform are activated by default on most mobile devices.
The Mobile Network Protection feature will provide:
- Defense against spoofing threats related to Wifi and hardware spoofing such as Wifi Pineapple.
- Notification display upon detection of Wifi-related threats.
- Guided experience within the app to connect to secure networks.
- Remediation options to switch networks identified as 'unsafe' or suspicious.
- Medium priority alerting upon detection of suspicious networks and information alerting when an open network is detected.
MDE requires integration permissions for storage and notifications on iOS devices. Additionally, Android users will need to grant location permissions to allow MDE to monitor their network and notify of any threats.

Additionally, Microsoft warns that MDE can only provide 'limited' protection against network threats. Moreover, the platform can only protect users from fake certificates if users decline location permissions.
Microsoft is expanding its user base for Defender. Last month, the company confirmed that anyone with a Microsoft 365 subscription will have access to Microsoft Defender.
