Microsoft has been working to enhance the functionality of reading larger PDF files for some time now. The company has recently added support for Read Aloud for PDF files, a feature that was present in Legacy Edge and has now been carried over to the Chromium-based Edge. Although currently hidden, you can try out this feature by following these steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge Canary and enter edge://flags/#edge-read-aloud-pdf in the address bar.
- Click on the dropdown menu and select Enabled to activate the feature.
- Restart the browser.
To utilize this feature, open any PDF file in Edge and click on Read Aloud in the toolbar at the top of the browser. Microsoft has added several settings to allow users to control the speed, voice, and other factors.
The Read Aloud feature is now available in Microsoft Edge Canary version 84.0.512.0 and above. We hope that Microsoft will soon release this feature along with the Edge 84 update.
