One of the notable features in Microsoft Teams is the AI-based noise cancellation to block surrounding noise, allowing users to focus on their meetings effortlessly.
Microsoft initiates testing Voice Clarity feature on Windows 11
The concept behind the Voice Clarity feature being tested by Microsoft is to provide a similar functionality for Windows 11 users. Unlike the noise cancellation feature on Teams, the new Voice Clarity operates at the operating system level and is designed to eliminate the entire high-frequency spectrum, relying on hardware to integrate signals from multiple microphones.

Additionally, the feature also has the ability to control echo, enhancing audio clarity and reducing surrounding noise. This allows users to hear each other clearly in Skype and Teams video conversations.
In the support documentation, Microsoft states that currently, Voice Clarity is exclusively for Windows 11 and will only work on the Surface Laptop Studio, being deployed in the latest firmware update.
Unlike other meeting features announced at the event, Voice Clarity does not require a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The Surface Laptop Studio is not equipped with an NPU, so it's highly likely that Voice Clarity will be available on other non-NPU-equipped devices in the future.
Other features announced at the event include tabs in File Explorer, context-aware suggestions, improved Focus Assist with no changes required to the existing configuration.
Features like background blur or Automatic Framing require an NPU and are only available on modern devices such as newer ThinkPads.
