Additionally, the update includes a new Ribbon bar with updated icons that look neat and sync with the dark mode interface on the Ribbon bar. Essentially, this new change helps protect users' eyes, reducing strain when exposed to blue light on the screen, especially when working at night or in low-light areas.
The update is now available for Office 365 users who participate in the Office Insider Program on the Fast ring and will soon be rolled out to all users. Moreover, it's likely that Office 2019 for Mac released last month will not feature a dark mode interface. The reason is that this is a one-time purchase perpetual release and does not receive regular feature updates.
Alongside the Office suite, Microsoft also implements and enhances dark mode interface across some other apps, including OneDrive (on macOS), To-Do (on Windows 10), and Outlook for the Web platform.
In the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, the Redmond giant also introduces a new dark mode interface for File Explorer. However, due to some issues and bugs, Microsoft has temporarily halted the update rollout.
