Version 4.6 beta of Microsoft Launcher appears just 2 days after version 4.5 became available for all users, bringing in new custom enhancements.
Now users will see the Cortana icon on their home screen, and upon tapping on it, an interactive overlay will appear on the screen. You can still interact via the virtual keyboard by tapping on the icon at the bottom left corner, but won't receive Cortana's data feed. Additionally, you won't have access to the Notebook, and can't set up skills for third-party apps or devices unless you download and install Cortana for Android separately.
You'll also find Cortana within the data feed of Microsoft Launcher. This widget operates quite similarly to launching it from the icon on the home screen.
Here are the updates in version 4.6:
- Cortana virtual assistant integrated into Microsoft Launcher: Utilize Cortana for making calls, scheduling meetings, changing wallpapers, continuing computer activities, or reading the latest headlines.
- Share Launcher via NFC & QR code.
- Support Arabic / RTL languages.
- Integrate Intune to support remote data wipe.
- Select contact addresses to display on the People card.
- Place widgets on the dock.
- Pin app/contact search on the home screen.
Microsoft regularly adds new features to its Android launcher, starting from its inception in the Garage project as Arrow Launcher. Microsoft Launcher currently has over 10 million downloads, with an average rating of 4.6 stars.
