The apps now boast a more intuitive design, including new icons, app launch screens, fonts, ... all brand new. Performance-related features such as Play My Emails enable users to listen to messages in their inbox if they are in the form of Podcasts, and Read Aloud performs a similar function in Word and other Office apps. Additionally, users can quickly scan documents with their phone and import them into Office, OneDrive, and other apps.
Microsoft recognizes that although users spend up to 4 hours a day on their mobile phones, each session typically lasts only 20 - 30 seconds on average. Hence, they have posed the question of how to enhance productivity every time users use their phones.
During busy times, we often switch constantly between apps or have very little time to concentrate. Therefore, having apps designed similarly and seamlessly connected will help alleviate the burden on users' brains by limiting the need for learning, getting accustomed, and navigating through each app.
Microsoft announces that Teams, Yammer, and Planner are also undergoing redesign, and they are also sharing a completely new mobile user interface toolkit with third-party app developers. As a result, the apps can have similar designs, helping users to focus better and increase productivity.
