Software giant Microsoft releases the Patch Tuesday update for July 2018 for all supported Windows versions, including a security patch for the NET Framework vulnerability (CVE-2018-8356).
However, on July 20th, the company identified and acknowledged that the .NET Framework issue in the latest update is causing applications to fail to start or function improperly. The company has released a new .NET Framework update to fix the bug and mitigate the impact on affected systems.

In their announcement on July 20th, the company advised users who have installed the July 2018 update to closely monitor their systems and install upcoming updates for NET Framework 4.0, 3.5 as soon as possible.
Microsoft releases a bug fix for .NET Framework
Users must install it manually
On July 30th, Microsoft released a bug fix for all affected versions of NET Framework 3.5 or 4.5. Users impacted are advised to install the update as soon as possible, or wait until the regular August 2018 update is released.
However, users cannot automatically update the update on Windows systems through Windows Update. The update is provided as a manual download on the Microsoft Update page. Systems affected by the .NET Framework issue will not be fixed until Microsoft releases the Patch Tuesday update in August 2018, unless users download and install the update manually.
