Microsoft Rolls Out Nearly 160 Security Updates for Its Products
After addressing the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability patches, Microsoft Security has been updated with fixes on Patch Tuesday. Over 150 updates and rollups impact newer products like Office 2016 and application components, extending to older products like Word 2007 and earlier NET framework versions. The fixes are automatically updated through Windows Update.
“In addition to enhancing security-related features, the update includes deep protection updates to secure vulnerabilities,” stated Microsoft.
Key changes for Edge and Internet Explorer browsers, as well as Windows 10, were released on January 3rd.
Microsoft's release of nearly 160 security updates for its products underscores the concern and severity posed by the Meltdown and Spectre security vulnerabilities. Recently, processor manufacturer Intel also issued a Microcode Patch for the Linux operating system to ensure users of this OS can address these two vulnerabilities effectively.
