Microsoft releases Windows 11 22H2 virtual machine for free
An important note is that Microsoft's Windows 11 virtual machines are not entirely free. Users can utilize these virtual machines until January 10, 2023. Afterwards, Microsoft will require Windows activation using a genuine product key like other Windows versions.

However, during the 2-month period, developers can design, test software with the following applications of Windows 11 virtual machine:
- Windows 11 Enterprise SKU.
- Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition with UWP, .NET Desktop, Azure, and Windows App SDK for C# language.
- Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 with pre-installed Ubuntu.
- Windows Terminal.
- Developer Mode.
Finally, users can download the official Windows 11 virtual machines on 4 virtualization software: VMWare, Hyper-V, VirtualBox (fully supported Windows 11), and Parallels.
