Contributing to the rising popularity of the Microsoft Edge web browser are its user-friendly interface, excellent performance, and privacy settings. Currently, Microsoft is testing new features to enhance the user's web browsing experience without compromising the browser's minimalist style.
Discover these exciting new features in Microsoft Edge Canary, set to roll out to all users between January and March 2021.
1. Tab Warning
Microsoft Edge now includes a new feature that displays a warning notification when closing multiple tabs.
When activated, users will see a notification with two options: Cancel and Close All Tabs. If this feature isn't to your liking, you can choose 'Don't ask me again.'
2. Vertical Tab Feature
In Microsoft Edge 88, you can seamlessly toggle between vertical and horizontal tabs using a new button on the left. Activating the vertical tab interface positions your web tabs on the left vertically. You can also rearrange tabs and utilize Chromium features like tab grouping and tab search.
3. Tab Preview
In January, Microsoft plans to provide support for the highly anticipated Tab Preview feature.
As the name suggests, the Tab Preview feature allows you to hover over tabs to view a preview of the webpage beneath your cursor. Tab Preview proves particularly useful when you have multiple tabs open simultaneously.
4. Default PDF File Reader
Microsoft Edge can now detect the default PDF file reader and direct users to the app on Windows 10.
5. Dictionary in PDF Documents
Microsoft has confirmed the development of a new feature allowing you to instantly view definitions of selected words in PDF documents.
Additionally, you can utilize Edge's new sidebar search feature, essentially enabling Bing access without disrupting your document browsing.
6. Farewell to Flash Player
After December 31, 2020, Adobe will cease support for Flash Player on Windows, and Flash plugins will no longer play Flash content in Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and other browsers.
7. Browser Cookies
In Edge 88, you can delete third-party cookies without affecting first-party cookies. You can also use filters to quickly find first or third-party cookies and sort the list by name, cookie count, and data size.
