(Homeland) - Microsoft's game development plans for 2023 are focused on the ambitious project of acquiring Activision Blizzard.
The journey of the gaming industry in 2022 is nearing its end. Last year witnessed a slowdown in the development of the electronic gaming industry due to the lingering effects of the pandemic. However, this setback serves as a momentum for an upcoming promising year in 2023.
For Microsoft, the most anticipated event in 2023 is the completion of the acquisition plan of Activision Blizzard. This project faces significant hurdles from the Federal Trade Commission and the community rallying to prevent it. If successful, Microsoft will surpass Sony, becoming the second-largest electronic game publisher in the world, only after Tencent.

The bright prospect thereafter is Xbox Game Studios possibly acquiring the rights to blockbuster games, including Call of Duty, Warcraft, Diablo, Minecraft, Age of Empires, Sea of Thieves, and Gears of War... This is something only a few other publishers have achieved, but they have had to build their list over the past 30-40 years.
In their 2023 roadmap, Microsoft will also utilize King - a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, known for producing famous mobile game brands like Candy Crush and Bubble Witch, to expand into the promising mobile gaming industry.

However, if the Federal Trade Commission successfully blocks the acquisition, this will deal a severe blow to Microsoft's expansion plans in the near future.
Another major endeavor of Microsoft in 2023 is the release of three major games, likened to 'blockbusters': Starfield, Redfall, and another undisclosed title, set to debut exclusively for Xbox and PC. It is expected that all will be released at high prices.
