Among the forthcoming features slated for the mobile Outlook app, the first notable feature is the ability for business users to add labels to sent emails. Company IT Admins have the authority to set up this feature. Users can create custom labels to distinguish whether the content in their sent emails is secure and encrypted, or to identify desired contact addresses with decryption access.
In addition, Microsoft is supplementing and introducing new options. Initially, Admins will have the authority to restrict users from adding personal email accounts or OneDrive accounts on Outlook on company devices. This feature has already been deployed for some customers and business users, and will soon be available to all other business users in the future.
To simplify the setup process and provide users within an organization or business with a more consistent experience, Admins will soon have the capability to configure specific settings in the Outlook app. This includes enabling or disabling contact synchronization, utilizing biometric authentication, and various other settings.
Furthermore, Admins can leverage specific configurations to establish support accounts for authentication, allowing users to access and use the app more swiftly and easily. To install and push these settings to members or individuals within the company, Admins access and configure settings on the new interface on Microsoft Intune, activating all features immediately after Microsoft deploys them to users.
Moreover, Microsoft introduces various other new enhancements for end users on the application. Specifically, users can now participate in group meetings directly within the Outlook app, with the integration of this feature expected to be rolled out in the early next year.
There is a high possibility that the application will utilize Office Lens to supplement contact details into users' Outlook accounts more easily. To accomplish this, users simply need to capture a business card image, after which the contact details will be automatically saved into Outlook. Alongside this are changes, new improvements to notifications. Specifically, users can set up notifications from desired contacts. These features will be deployed to users in the coming months.
Finally, there are some enhancements, new changes for the Outlook calendar on the mobile platform, including the ability to add shared calendars. This could be beneficial in cases where a user allows their colleagues to view their calendar and check the status of meetings to choose a separate meeting room. This feature is currently being rolled out to commercial users. It is expected that in the next few months, events in the Outlook calendar will start to appear in the app's search feature, helping users easily find what they need.
In addition to the enhancements on Outlook for mobile platforms for businesses, Microsoft recently announced a range of new enhancements for Outlook on the web and desktop.
