Microsoft Word for Android Surpasses 1 Billion Installations

It's a cause for celebration as Microsoft's Word for Android crosses the milestone of over 1 billion installations on the Google Play Store. This marks the first app from the software giant to surpass 1 billion installations on mobile devices and was also the first app to reach 500 million installations in the past.

Similar to other Office applications like Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Microsoft Word is now widely installed and used across enterprises.

In addition to Microsoft Word surpassing 1 billion installations, PowerPoint and Excel have also reached over 500 million installations, and Outlook has surpassed 100 million installations on Google Play on Android devices.

Looking into the future, with Office 365 surpassing 1.5 billion downloads and installations on computers, the software giant still uses the figure of 1.5 billion to describe its entire Windows user base, covering all operating system versions, with Windows 10 accounting for around 850 million users.

With over 1 billion installations, Microsoft's Word for Android proves to be a user favorite. Additionally, the app boasts a rating of 4.5 stars from 3.5 million users.

Microsoft Word was initially released in October 1983 for the Xenix operating system. Shortly after, the first version of Word for MS-DOS was introduced alongside Microsoft's first mouse.
