This new feature from Microsoft will significantly improve the game installation process from the Windows Store, allowing PC gamers to install games into any folder without restrictions and addressing many headaches when installing games from PC Game Pass. Users of Windows 11 or Windows 10 can also back up and restore these game files in the future.
Microsoft Xbox allows users to install PC games in any folder
Previously, Windows users had to install PC games from the app store into the dedicated WindowsApps folder in the root directory of the hard drive. Despite support for additional storage drives, users couldn't install games into the folders they wanted or freely move and modify these files.

The latest Xbox update doesn't require users to reinstall their existing games. Instead, users can right-click on the game title in the Xbox app and select Manage, then activate the feature to set and manage new games. Any games users install in the future will include the option for a new installation folder.
These changes will somewhat make Xbox more similar to Steam. Finally, the new Xbox update is now available on the Windows Store.
