Mingun Pahtodawgyi Pagoda stands as an incomplete architectural wonder in Mingun village, emanating mystical and tranquil vibes. Today, it has become a highly sought-after destination in Myanmar.
Mingun Pahtodawgyi Pagoda – Ancient Remnants in Myanmar's Terrain
Mingun Pahtodawgyi Pagoda holds a prime position along the banks of the Irrawaddy River, bearing the imprint of ancient architecture and grandeur.
Mingun Township – where the remnants of Pahtodawgyi are preserved, is an ancient village with longstanding cultural and historical values. Here, visitors feel like they're stepping back in time, entering the world of beautiful and impressive Buddhist structures.

Throughout the ups and downs of history, the world's largest pagoda remains a destination boasting stunning architecture, standing at 50m tall and 70m wide, resembling a fortress with its weathered red brick exterior.

The central part of the pagoda faces directly towards the riverbank with an entrance gate designed with intricate lines, bearing the mark of Buddhist culture. Inside the entrance, there is a small shrine dedicated to Buddha statues. Furthermore, in front of the pagoda, there are two giant lion statues serving the duty of guarding the temple, which was damaged by an earthquake.

Despite being ruins, the pagoda still exudes a mysterious and unfinished beauty. This is the place that allows you to admire the intricate architecture and the beauty of the passing years.

When visiting Mingun Pahtodawgyi pagoda, tourists also have the opportunity to admire a giant bronze bell nearby. This bell weighs up to 90 tons and has been preserved intact over time. In the past, King Bodawpaya had hoped to place this bell in the Pahtodawgyi pagoda upon completion of the construction.

Today, this place has become a destination visited by many tourists for sightseeing and capturing some super 'cool' photos in this ancient land. With Buddhist architectural features and the old red brick color, the ruins of Mingun Pahtodawgyi are the perfect destination for those who want to explore Myanmar's culture and history. Especially, this place is also an ideal setting for photography enthusiasts.
